Celebrating Heidi Oyola: A Dedicated Leader in Human Resources at Idaho Steel

At Idaho Steel, our success is built on the dedication, passion, and leadership of our incredible team. One of the driving forces behind our people-first culture is Heidi Oyola, our Director of Human Resources, who has been shaping the employee experience at Idaho Steel for over two decades.

A Career Rooted in Passion for People

Heidi’s journey at Idaho Steel began 21 years ago, thanks in part to a little encouragement from her father, a machinist at the company. Recognizing her natural talent for human resources, he put in a good word for her, and the rest is history. For the last 12 years, she has served as the Director of Human Resources, leading with a focus on innovation, team development, and continuous improvement.

“I truly enjoy helping others and love to learn,” Heidi shared. “If I wasn’t working in HR, I’d probably be teaching somewhere.”

Leading HR Innovations and Workforce Development

Over the past year, Heidi and her team have been hard at work implementing new human resources technology, including Idaho Steel’s first HRIS system and automated payroll process—significant upgrades that improve efficiency and support employees more effectively. Additionally, Idaho Steel has partnered with College of Eastern Idaho Workforce Training, further strengthening the local workforce and ensuring employees have access to valuable training opportunities.

Looking ahead, Heidi is committed to building on these advancements, ensuring Idaho Steel continues to invest in its people.

“I’m looking forward to focusing on the development of our team and being able to offer great training for our leaders,” she said. “We are also working on improving our performance management process, hoping to be even more transparent with our team and reward great performance at Idaho Steel.”

A Commitment to People and Purpose

At the heart of Heidi’s leadership is genuine care for people. She takes pride in making small, meaningful contributions every day to support the Idaho Steel team. Her belief in continuous improvement ensures that the company not only thrives operationally but also remains a great place to work.

“I’m proud to work in Idaho, and particularly for a 100-year-old company that builds machines to process Idaho potatoes that feed the world,” Heidi said.

We are grateful for Heidi’s dedication, leadership, and passion for making Idaho Steel a workplace where employees feel valued and supported. Her efforts continue to enhance our team’s success, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact she will make in the years to come.

Join us in celebrating Heidi Oyola for her outstanding contributions to Idaho Steel and the Idaho workforce!
